First edition of Admiral Sir Roger Keyes' first memoir. 538pp.; black-and-white photographic plates and maps. A Good, if slightly shaken copy in slightly bowed and bumped blue cloth covers. The spine is faded and there is a small nick at its head; also the remnants of a label remain on the front board. Contents are clean and firmly-bound, however, with just a little foxing and light marks to outer page-edges. A newspaper cutting - detailing the pass of General Sir Leslie Rundle - has been tipped into the front endpaper; the book was, according to an inscription on the front FEP, given to a previous owner by Rundle and the General's signature has also been pasted in.

Twenty-fifth edition. xxxiv, 32 pp. Includes the fold-out 'Questions which may be put to the Oracle' plan. Contemporary pink paper-covered boards over green-paper spine (i.e hardcover); title-label tipped onto front board. Spine is heavily worn and the boards are rather grubby; there are splits to the spine-hinges but the boards are holding firm. Internally sound and, for the most part, clean but there is scattered foxing to leaves, and the first and rear pages are grubby and have numerous pencil jottings. The half-title and rear endpaper appear to have been removed. The fold-out Oracle is a little foxed and worn at its extremities but in generally good order. A slightly shaken, rather worn copy overall but a decent example, priced accordingly. This is an original publication and not photocopied edition.

Meinhold's elaborate literary hoax, which tells of a sensational, albeit bogus, withcraft trial.Cream cloth boards, with gilt illustration and titles to front board; gilt titles to spine; deckled page-edges. A label bearing Philip Burne-Jones' name has been affixed to the front pastedown and 'with compliments' pencilled in; a suggestion that this may have been the artist's personal copy. The rear endpaper has Bedford School library stamp. xxxviii, 221 pp.; five monotone plates by Philip Burne-Jones. A Good+ copy with darkening to the spine and overall discolouration to the beige cloth boards; internally clean and generally firm, though the frontispiece is loose and the front hinge cracked. A decent copy.
