Two volumes bound into one. Third edition. Attractively bound in red half-morocco with maroon cloth boards; gilt titles and devices to spine. 521, 311 pp.; occasional b/w illustrations. Non-authorial ink gift dedication to a previous owner and a small label-removal shadow on front free endpaper. Else, a clean, tightly-bound copy with very light, very occasional scattered foxing. The boards are a touch bumped at the corners and the spine is a touch faded. Overall, a very decent, sound copy.

A VG+ example that is showing some minor bowing and light, unobtrusive spotting to the vellum boards. Internally, the pages are tightly-bound and clean, with occasional light spotting to some leaves; a previous owner's gift dedication to the half-title. The outer page-edges are slightly darkened. Overall, a very good example indeed.

Bound in contemporary half-leather with embossed brown cloth boards. 298 pp. A Good+ copy that is showing noticeable wear and knocks to the corner-pieces and spine-ends, with fading to the spine' some minor loss to the head of the spine. The leaves are clean and firmly bound, with only light spotting and marks to the endpaper (plus a neat previous owner's inscription to the front FEP).

A highly uncommon edition which David Gilson appears not to reference in his bibliography and the British Library does list. Not dated, but likely 1900 - 1910. Original publisher's dark-green cloth (i.e. hardcover) with gilt lettering and blind-stamped decorations to front panel and spine. 384 pp. A Good only, slightly imperfect copy with the usual rubbing and scuffing to covers., and light bumps to corners Internally clean and firmly-bound for the most part, though the front cover-hinge has sprung and the first signature is a touch loose. There is a previous owner's annotation on the title page; else pages are showing uniform, quite heavy, browning throughout, and there is a previous owner's name and a splash on the front endpaper. Overall, though, a decent example.
