1 Blues Third Annual American Negro Blues Festival.
Birmingham, England 1964
The American Negro Blues Festival was founded by the German blues producer Horst Lippmann. He introduced the British audience to some of the greats including Lightning Hopkins, Howling Wolf, Hubert Sumlin and the great Sonny Boy Williamson. Sonny Boy Williamson was to tour the U.K. in front of the Yardbirds with Eric Clapton on Guitar. Hubert Sumlin, died only last year after a long carrer and his funeral costs were paid by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Recently at the White House at a concert celebrating the Blues in front of President Obama, Jagger shared with the audience about loving the blues from an early age, when he often saw Sonny Boy Williamson perform in England. He told how singer /harmonica player Williamson, took note of the blues-loving young bands like the Rolling Stones: "Those English boys, they want to play the blues real bad," he said. "And they do real bad.". Sonny Boy Williamson also wrote 'Eyesight To The Blind' which was the only song on the Tommy soundtrack not written by The Who. VG, clean and bright with some folds but otherwise in Excellent condition. A very important and rare poster. VG, clean and bright with some folds but otherwise in Excellent condition.
