Author uncredited; Evans, E. (illustrations0 Aldershot and All About It. Its Camp and Barracks: Field Day Review. Farnham: Its Castle , Park and Town:.Cobbett: His Birthplace and Grave. Waverley Abbey, Moor Park, Dean Swift and Stella, Selborne, Guildford, &c. Arthur E. Lucy, Aldershot and Farnham 1860 A highly scarce mid-Victorian history of Aldershot, Farnham and their environs. This is contemporaneous with Marianne Young's 1857 Aldershot and All About It - a previous owner's inscription is dated 1861 - but the author of this is not credited; additionally, Mrs Young illustrated her own book but the drawings in this particular book are by E. Evans. Thus, this may be an expanded edition of Mrs Young's book or a completely different work by a different writer. Undated. Bound in the publisher's yellow paper wrappers; housed in a near-contemporary, loose maroon cloth covering, which is not attached to the book. 239 pp.; engravings and occasional maps. A newspaper cutting relating to the renaming of the William Cobbett pub (in Farnham) is loosely laid in. A generally Good example: both wrappers is detached, but contents are clean and secure, though with the occasionl loose hinge. The leaves show occasional marks and smudgs, and some sporadic creases. Overall, a decent, if slightly frail, example of a highly scarce item. Price:
